Ukrainian literary critic, publicist, philosopher, political activist, the creator of integral nationalism theory. In 1909-11 he studied at Vienna University. There he married Ukrainian student Mariya Bachynska. In 1911, after 4 semesters in Vienna, he moved to Lviv, where in 1917 he completed his doctorate in law. He was editing "Literaturno-naukovyi vistnyk" (Literary Scientific Herald), “Zahrava”, “Vistnyk”; was published in German, Swiss and Polish journals. In 1926 Dontsov wrote his main work “Nationalism”. In 1939, on the eve of the Soviet takeover of western Ukraine, Dontsov left Ukraine, living in Bucharest, Prague, Germany, Paris, the United States, Canada. In 1947 he moved to Montreal where he taught Ukrainian literature at the French-language Université de Montréal.
