He was the architect of the late Baroque and Rococo style of German origin. He worked at Western Ukraine, which in 18 century belonged to Poland. In 1738 he moved to Lviv, where he settled and worked as an architect. He created association together with architect Martin Urbanik. In 1742 architect lived at the monastery of Carmelite shod, reconstructing the monastery church. 1757 settled in the house of Hensorovska (9 Teatralna St.). The biggest masterpiece of Meretyn is St. George cathedral in Lviv. This ensemble is one of the best examples of rococo in Ukraine. It was built between 1745 and 1770 years.
