Novakivskyi Oleksa

He was Ukrainian painter and teacher. From 1913 he lived in Lviv, where he moved with the help of the Metropolitan A. Sheptytskyi . Novakovskyi, in addition to creative work, was engaged in teaching. In 1923 he founded an art school in Lviv which became a famous center of culture painting in Western Ukraine. In 1924-25, he led the Faculty of Arts of Lviv (secret ) Ukrainian University. He died in Lviv, buried at the Lychakiv cemetery. There is Oleksa Novakivskyi Art Memorial Museum in Lviv ( 11 Lystopadovoho Chynu St.).
