Years: 1809 - 1849
Polish poet, a major figure in the Polish Romantic period, and the father of modern Polish drama. He was born on September 4, 1809 in Kremenets town in Volyn region. In his works Juliusz Slowacki represents many historical events of Ukraine (dramas: The Silver Dream of Salomea, Beniowski, Father Marek, that refer to Koliivshchyna period; John Casimir – from Khmelnytskyi Uprising period), depicts the landscape of Volyn and Podolia and Kremenets town. Famous Ukrainian poet Ivan Franko called Juliuszh “a big singer of Podolia”. There is Slowackogo Street in Lviv nowadays.
