Austrian economist, a founder of neoliberalism, a prominent figure in the Austrian School of economic. He was born in Lviv on 10 Hnatiuka Str. Studied at the University of Vienna and in his 27 received his doctorate. L. von Mises visited lectures given by Austrian economist Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk. He became very famous in Europe through his scientific work “The Theory of Money and Credit” (1912). In 1909-34 he was the economic adviser and later on the chief economist for the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. A well-known scientist who together with others prevented Austria from hyperinflation in 20s of 20th century. He established the Institute of economic cycles research and oppointed his former student Nobelist Friedrich Hayek, as a head of the Institute. The momoriable plaque was set on October 4, 2011 on 13 Hnatiuka Str. in Lviv.
